FIGURAL KNEELING ELEPHANT ANTIQUE BURMESE PIPE
Wonderful and highly detailed figural elephant opium pipe. He has his trunk up for good luck and I love his tail! Decorated in the traditional method for Asian elephants. The elephant is kneeling on his back legs with the front legs straight. Crafted of a cast metal. I thought likely bronze, but it does have magnetic properties - doesn't attract refrigerator magnets, but does lightly attract an essential earth block magnet. Stem isn't magnetic at all. Has been used in the past as there is some carbon residue inside - though no smell. A fabulous addition to any pipe, elephant or Asian Burmese collection!
Although not made for decoration purposes but for use, this opium pipe is a great, highly decorative antique piece which will add character to any room.
Approx. 9 1/2"L x 3 1/2"H when resting on a table. Stem 6 5/8"L. Elephant 3"H.
Red Dice in picture is 3/4" to help with scale and are not included with the listing. Item purchased from an estate sale and I have no history on it. I love elephants, so I couldn't resist this piece at a local estate sale.
