    Antique 19thc. Barong / Talibong Filipino Sword Dagger Fist Shaped Handle
    For your consideration is a beautiful antique Filipino weapon, most likely a Talibong or  Barong
    The "talibon" or "talibong" is a long dagger, characterized by the exaggerated belly. Some references state that it is a lady's sword, used mostly for hunting, while other consider it as a combat weapon.
    The unique handle is hand carved in the shape of a fist holding a the knife. The hand is very fine and beautiful
    , with elaborated decoration featuring a sleeve lace or a bracelet of some kind.
    The wood is hard, dark and exotic
    A brass ring connects it with the guard and the hand hammered iron blade
    Exceptional quality work, rare and unique find
    Circa late 1800's, The Philippines
